Kelli Brianne Garner was born on April 11, 1984 in Bakersfield, CA. Kelli loved to play soccer and fancied herself to be the next Mia Hamm. It wasn't until she saw Jim Carrey doing Fire Marshall Bill on In Living Color that she considered acting. She was at a friend's bar mitzvah, wearing a little blue dress and doing the limbo and a talent agent approached her and told her, "Well, aren't you cute," and gave her a business card. This experience led to an Eggo commercial. She starred in a short for her future Thumbsucker director Mike Mills entitled "Architecture of Assurance" in 1999 at the age of 16.
She portrayed a teen prostitute in 2001's Bully and realized that she could manipulate her emotions. She dyed her hair brown shortly after shooting that and landed three roles, one after the other: Faith Domerague in The Aviator, Rebecca in Thumbsucker, and a ditzy cheerleader in Man of the House alongside Tommy Lee Jones. After that, she did the music video for Green Day's "Jesus of Suburbia" with her Thumbsucker co-star, Lou Taylor Pucci. The roles then began pouring in.
She won roles in various in indie films, including Dreamland, Return to Rajapur, and Normal Adolescent Behavior. By 2007, she starred alongside Ryan Gosling in Lars and the Real Girl in which her character develops a crush on Gosling's character, who is dating a $3,000 blow-up doll named Bianca. Don't assume that Kelli has just stuck to doing movies. She has also dabbled in television (Grounded for Life in 2002 as Tracey) and has appeared in the off-Broadway play called "Dog Sees God" in which she has won rave reviews.
In 2008, she has two films lined up entitled The Six Wives of Henry Lefay and Red Velvet, both of which are slated for release next year. It is without a doubt that Kelli is destined to become a huge star. Having already conquered indie films, music videos, and the stage, there is truly nothing that Kelli can't do.
